Life Can Be a Fickle Mistress

I had an interview today for an art position in one of the school division in Winnipeg.  It was an unusual interview in the sense that there were not a lot of the standard issue questions that usually accompany a teaching interview but for the most part I walked out of there feeling like I had nailed it.  The only question remained was how it would work into my already existing work schedule.  I was feeling pretty optimistic until the principal call me back later that day and informed me that the art classes had to be scheduled in the afternoons on days 2,4 and 6 and of course those are the days that I already work! So even if they offer me the job, I won’t be able to accept it, which I am totally bummed about.
Why does it seem like when everything is coming up milhouse, life comes around and really knows how to slam you back down to earth?
On the bright side, I have been doing some serious praying about this situation and perhaps God has another plan for me.  All I can do is trust in the lord and take comfort in the fact that maybe it was never meant to be and that maybe he has something better in mind.

Inspirational Word Pendants

So i have been working on some new ideas for the upcoming fall craft sale season.  The Feather Hair Fascinators are one along with these new Inspirational Word Pendants. The idea for these little beauties comes from positive thinking and the idea if you think long and hard on a word, good things will come of it.  The price point for my Inspirational Word Pendant's is only $18 but i have a limited supply of some words so if you really have to have one, leave me a message and we can make arrangements to get it to you!

I have been working at replenishing my Jewellery supplies the last couple of weeks and rings were the next item on the list.  I started making them for last years craft sales (and only because of my sister) and they sold like hot cakes!  I hope to make enough of them in the month of August to get me through the craft sale season, although, my sales are starting earlier this year with the Headlingley Community Craft Sale in late October but at least I am getting a head start on the process.  Here are a few pictures of my new shinies!

I finally got down to business this weekend and made some hair fascinators.  These can be for every day use or special occasions like weddings.  Take a look and if you fall in love with one, leave me a message and I can put it aside for you.

Steampunk Pieces

Today I finally had the time to sit down to create a couple of pieces.  My sister is taking some of my Steampunk pieces to an art night on Saturday in hopes that we can sell a few and to get my pieces out there. 
For those who don’t know what Steampunk is, here is an easy way to explain it: Steampunk is a made up era or alternate history where steam power is still widely used.  The movie, Wild Wild West, is my best mainstream example of the Steampunk era.  With my jewellery, I incorporate elements such as watch parts, lockets, keys and locks, and creatures in a variety of metals to achieve the Steampunk feel.
These 6 pieces are my new shinies and will be for sale, along with my other Steampunk pieces, on Saturday, August 13th at: The Neighbourhood Bookstore and Café from 9pm-12am!

Friends of the Four Legged Variety

Today was an early start kind of day and I am hoping it will get my sleep back to its regular scheduled program.  I took Snowy to the groomers this morning at 8 and they called me to pick him up by 9:30, just in as I was finishing mowing the lawn.  I have to say that I really wasn’t expecting much since this was his first “hair cut” but I was pleasantly surprised!  He looked awesome, and just in time for his date tonight!

Mom and I had some running around to do today that included a trip to Costco.  I love it in there.  Even if I am not looking for anything I can usually find something I want and or need although it usually leans to the want side.
Supper was a pretty easy honey/garlic chicken with rice and mushrooms and a fudge bar for desert (only 2 points!).  I am seriously thinking of spending some time in my craft room tonight. Hopefully I will be able to post a pick of something shiny tomorrow.

Almost a GTL Day

Today I was able to find some me time.  I worked out (something I haven’t done since we left for vacation), went tanning, caught up on a few of my shows and finished the book that I have been speed-reading through because it was that exciting!  I also had my first W.W meeting since I’ve been home and the good news was that I was down 2lbs from my weigh in, in Maui, so I am saying that I only gained 1 pound while on vacation, seems fair right?
It felt good to do a few things for myself but I feel like I am avoiding entering my craft room.  I know I should be using the summer to prepare for fall craft sales. I don’t want a repeat of last year when I ran out of product as well as materials at crucial moments and with my jewellery, I can only make so many pieces in a day before my fingers start hurting and peeling.  But I really am going to try to make an effort to get in there and start being creative. 
Tomorrow I am dropping Snowy off at the groomers for the first time and then I am spending the day with my mom getting pedicures and doing some shopping at Costco.  I also got a call to schedule my ultrasound for Thursday so she is staying over the night and going with me to the hospital in the morning.  AND before anyone gets any ideas, this is just a preliminary ultrasound to make sure everything is ok with my left ovary and that there are no signs of any more cysts.  I am NOT pregnant!  My doctor is just being cautious and giving me peace of mind.
Time to watch some TV with Hubby and then its early to bed for me, I can't wait for tomorrow!
