Creating an Image

On my to-do list this year was come up with a better way to package my jewellery.  I am tired of the small organza bags that hold next to nothing and that I can’t advertise my brand on, but in comes Pinterest to the rescue!  While perusing the site (if I am honest I had probably been “perusing” for about 2 hours) I came across a great idea to use brown kraft bags!  These are great because I then went and bought a customized rubber stamp that I can stamp onto my bags and they instantly become posh and trendy!
Here is a picture of the rubber stamp and its image!

I have also been creating pieces like a mad women in anticipation for my first sale of the season on October 21st and 22nd.  Here is a sampling of a few new pieces.  To check out all of my pieces come out to the Headingly Community Centre Craft Sale: 12- 8 Friday and 10-4 on Saturday. Hope to see you out!

Art Room Creativity

In the last two weeks, I have spent a lot of time in my classroom preparing for the new school year. Due to my new addiction to Pinterest and the new available shelving in my room, I have found and used a lot of great ideas and incorporated them into my art room!

Supply storage and student drying area

Class shelves and construction paper storage box's

"See with your artist eyes" signs, our first lesson of the year

Creativity Takes Courage signs,  I have two of them in the room.

Artists sign on the Artists bulletin board made using glitter paper.  I LOVE this sign!

My newly painted black counter tops and radiator cover (they used to be orange)

I have also been using the Internet for other purposes, besides facebook.  I have found that many art teachers are really amazing at blogging about their art lessons and including pictures to support them, as well as linking other art teacher blogs to their own, BONUS!  I have collected some new great lessons and have adapted them for my classes and I am so eager to introduce them to my students!  With my newly organized and creative classroom and my new super exciting lessons, this year is going to rock and I am so looking forward to it!

In Other News . . .

Today marks the first day of my 3rd year of teaching.  And although it was only meet the teacher conferences, I spent the majority of the day organizing and creating some great looking posters that really brighten up the room.  I will post pictures tomorrow!  I am really looking forward to this year as I will be doing a bit of EAing in my school on top of my art teacher duties and I am completely excited to be working with some fantastic teachers and great students.

In other news, I reached my 40lbs by the end of the summer goal!  I really still can’t believe that I have lost that much weight but it is slowly but surly coming off and I can’t wait to reach my next goal of 60lbs by the end of November.  My husband is noticing and liking and I haven’t had this much energy since high school!

I have been trying to get ready for my fall craft sales in the remaining days of summer break and will have to post pictures of some of the pieces that I have created in the last few days, but I will save them for another post.
